1. Mm, cross country

The season has begun so here I am, back in my lovely hometown with ready access to tumblr.

Summer was great- I absolutely loved being a camp counselor and it really helped remind that my main priority for senior year should be to, above anything else, have a wonderful, fun senior season. I’m a captain, so this season won’t be all about me. Sure, it’s nice to have some glory but in the grand scheme of things, what will truly matter? I love to run and I think as long as I keep that in mind, all should go well, no matter what my times are.

I’m not sure if my foot is 100%. So far, so good… but I ran minimally at camp (well, I ran pretty much everyday when I could, but it wasn’t 45 mpw or anything like that) so we’ll see how the mileage affects me.

    Quick, brief day-to-day run-down:

Last Monday: 2 mile warm-up. 4 Park Hills. 1 mile cool-down. Felt strangely really good!

Tuesday: 4 mile easy run. Cramps to the max.

Wednesday: 1st day of official practice. 5-6 miles mod pace. Lovely, although tiring by the end.

    Thursday: 5 mile run. Dece.

Friday: 2 mile warm-up. 15 minutes continuous hill repeats. Not too bad but was a little too gung-ho at the beginning and paid for that at the end. 1.5 mile cooldown.

    Saturday: 7 miles. GLORIOUS.

    Sunday: Off.

Today: 4 mile (pushing the pace). 1 mile on the track (200m of 4mile run pace, 200m increased pace some more).

So yeah, the mileage hasn’t been crazy so far, but I expect that the workload will pick up. My entire team’s not in the best shape right now- hopefully we’ll get there.

    Yay cross country!

  6. My 1st mile back and it felt glorious! Slightly tender, but that’s what my doctor said it’d feel like. I’m only supposed to do a tad of running every other day this week, so I doubled it with 40 minutes of biking. Goodness, now I’m just itching to run more! Those of you that can run, cherish your long runs and the joy you feel in the exhaustion of completion. I know I’ll definitely appreciate the process more once I’m able to again.

    :)

And I got a new watch today after over 3 years use of my last one. Such good times wearing it (pun totally intended). A bit nostalgic giving it up, but when it resets the time every time I stop the timer, it’s a bit of a problem, ya know…

About me

Janey. Distance runner.

Currently injured with a stress fracture in my 4th metatarsal, so this is your warning that I'm a bit moody when I don't run (who isn't?). Trying to get through cross training, but it's a slow process and I'm not a patient person. However, I love to run and that's what's important. Stick around and I might post something that strikes your fancy.

"You have to wonder at times what you're doing out there. Over the years, I've given myself a thousand reasons to keep running, but it always comes back to where it started. It comes down to self-satisfaction and a sense of achievement." -Pre
